-I saw an ad today for a meditation class that was charging $40 to teach you meditation. Meditation is a hugely valuable tool to have. It not only quiets the mind, but it untangles it. It brings peace, clarity, and opens us up to change. It also puts us in a space where we are open to receive guidance and messages. I thought $40 was way too much, so I'll give it to you here for free: Sit comfortably, someplace quiet where you won't be disturbed. Close your eyes, and begin to observe the breath going in and out of your nose. When your mind wanders, bring it back to your breath. If you get fidgety, try to breathe through it. If you get an itch, try to not scratch it but wait for it to change (everything changes). What you're doing is training your mind to NOT react. Do this everyday for 10 minutes, without fail, and gradually work your way up to 20-30 minutes a day. Done. Easy. Free!!
-The work that I do can be quite intense and transformational, and I find it to be very different from the bodywork presented elsewhere. For that reason, I prefer to start with a Reiki/Massage combo. This allows us to create a session that's catered to your unique processing ability. Massage, Reiki, and Yoga are all designed to release any blocks that are in the way of us moving forward on our path and/or being happy. Whatever is not working gets brought up for us to look at and change. If we start with too deep of a massage, then too much gets brought up too quickly. This can be too hard to process emotionally. So I ask you to put aside your expectations, and allow yourself to be open to a new experience....one that is truely healing. Expect to look at yourself and your life, and be open to talking about what's not working. This can be done with me during your session, with a therapist, or even with a journal. The point is, if you don't get it out, then it stays in and can lead to illness, disease, depression, injury, stress, and unhappiness. Remember, healing is a collaboration!
-Saturn is sitting exactly on my Uranus as I type this tonight, so I thought this would be a good time to start this blog. Uranus is in my 3rd house of communications and ideas, and rules my 8th house of transformation and healing. Seeing that this is a healing blog, it makes sense that I'd be doing this and that the inspiration came "out of the blue" (Uranus). Many people are afraid of Saturn transits, but I have found that they aren't that bad once you get the lessons involved. I do feel a little tired which is typical of Saturn transits for me as I'm a Taurus and my Saturn is in Taurus (11th house), and my Mars is in Capricorn (6th), but the fatigue tends to end immediately when the aspect is past exact. I'm also watching (3rd house) a zombie movie (8th house) on TV (uranus), and actually typing this (3rd house) during commercials. The movie is "28 days later". It's a pretty good movie, although gruesome at times. I'm watching this with my friend, (11th house), Tom, which is perfect since this transit is happening in libra (relationships/partnerships/socializing) in my home (IC). Saturn will be crossing over into my 4th house later this week, and I am moving into a house that has better structure and will be able to provide me with a more stable environment....all Saturnian things. I'm finding that lately I've been more comfortable expressing my uniqueness, and, knock on wood, haven't found this transit to be all that tough. I'm sure the reason for this is that I know Astrology, and know what to expect so I can be somewhat prepared. When the surprises come (and they do!), I'm not sent over the edge like I would have been years ago. I just roll up my sleeves, look at what I need to look at, and do the work. This makes Saturn happy :) -Brian.
